Michael-John " MJ" Parkin

Those that do not know me I am Michael-John Parkin or MJ for short and have lived in and around my local town of Nantwich for most of my life.

I am lucky enough to work in the town as an Insurance Broker for a local Brokers - Barnett Jones and Cooke Ltd, although I took a complete Career change some 13 years ago from Milking cows – Dairy Farming for a living to selling Commercial Insurance, however I do specialise in Agricultural Insurance so I have always kept my connections with the farming Industry.

My hobbies include playing Tennis, swimming and I am also a Campanologist at the local village church of Wrenbury. I also enjoy vintage vehicles having a WW2 Willys Jeep which comes out in the Summer. I  have also been involved for the last 20 years with the local round table.

My Chosen charity is Macmillan Cancer Support which is a well known charity however the money is going towards the local ward at Leighton Hospital Crewe and to help with the nursing care of people in the Crewe and Nantwich Area. The local Macmillan ward at Leighton is something I am a big supporter of as it provides cancer sufferers with a place to be treated locally which is something that did not exist when my mother was being treated just over 4 yrs ago instead it meant long journeys to Christies in Manchester. The Macmillan Ward at Leighton is definitely a great asset to the local area and also the dedication of the local Macmillan nurses who services I have witnessed when my mother was so well looked after.
